I learned years ago my good fortune to have two daughters, Caitlyn and Cassidy, who know how to and love to sing - even with their old dad. We have been sharing songs around campfires since the girls were small and this has grown to me trying to include them whenever possible. Caitlyn and Cassidy have sung “Sonny’s Dream” with me on stages from the Ship Pub (NL) to the Philadelphia Folk Festival. As the girls grow up their musical tastes have changed but they still love joining me for some traditional tunes like “I’ll Fly Away.” These days I hear them singing throughout the evening in our old farmhouse here in Campbellford. Caitlyn is taking to songwriting more and more and Cassidy just over to sing when her busy school schedule allows.
My girls are growing up and will transition into living and building their own lives. I love having them around and I love watching them turn into adults. The process from afar is scary but when you live it every day it is simply amazing to watch unfold.
